The Balearic Islands have two new additions – Hyde Ibiza and Mondrian Ibiza open

In Cala Llonga, one of the most idyllic corners of the White Isle, boho-chic Hyde, opens its first European hotel, and ground-breaking and innovative Mondrian makes it debut in Spain.

Widely considered to be the best natural harbour on the east coast, Cala Llonga boast 200 meters of beach and guests at the hotel will have access to of Ibiza’s most Instagrammable hidden coves via a stunning mountain.

Hyde Ibiza
Hyde offers guests a new way to enjoy themselves that redefines the concept of hospitality, reflecting the energy and vibrancy of the island. With spaces to disconnect and reconnect, communal spaces are designed to foster social connections, with a fusion of indoor and outdoor spaces. Hyde offers a place where time does not exist and encourages guests to discover interesting pop-ups, wellness options and music, reinforcing the idea that anything can happen.

Art has a prominent place in the communal spaces of Hyde Ibiza with works by international artists custom-made for the hotel, such as the large hand-painted mural that dresses the façade or the collection of handcrafted pieces that fill the walls with colour, including creations by Spanish artists such as those of Fran Aniorte or the Earth Totems by British artist Lauren Baker.

Rooms at Hyde Ibiza offer spectacular views to please the tastes of all guests: those who want to wake up every morning to the sound of the Mediterranean Sea, those who prefer the majesty of the mountains, and for nature lovers who seek the tranquillity of the forest. The hotel will have two twelve-storey buildings with a total of 401 rooms by the 2024 season. Paying homage to the island’s architecture, it is designed with a relaxed approach that incorporates custom woodwork and artisanal touches through textures such as solid wood, fabrics, leather and ceramic details, conveying the natural and enveloping character of the island. Warm colours and natural materials provide the perfect backdrop for guests to recharge or spend time with friends as they prepare for a night out.

Mondrian Ibiza
Mondrian’s introduction to Spain is innately linked to its brand DNA, which is rooted in art, design and culture. Ibiza is known as a bastion for all three, making the island an ideal location for this new 154-room destination.

The stepped white façade of Mondrian Ibiza is a striking addition to Cala Llonga, whilst the hotel’s interiors embraced organic forms in this presentation of Mondrian’s signature “modern cultural fairytale.” The entrance is immersive – its walls seemingly carved from nature itself, with nooks for modern seating and art. An intimate reception area draws guests in through vivid blue walls and flooring and a reflective gold desk that sit in vibrant contrast the soft, neutral-hued walls.

The light and airy sensibility carries into the spacious guest rooms, each a serene interpretation of the local landscape. Woven headboards and chairs, sculptural lighting, and clean-lined furnishings create an inspired retreat. And many rooms are accented with balconies offering front row seating to a spectacular show of nature. Three onsite pools provide equally captivating views, with generous space to gather, play and bask.

Artwork will be an integral part of the guest experience, as it is in every Mondrian hotel around the world. Gone Rogue – an art curation and consultant collective –thoughtfully selected a collection that draws inspiration from and reflects Ibiza’s natural beauty. Additionally, Gone Rogue will curate a rolling exhibition space in the lobby dedicated to exploring and showcasing the work of local artists.

Gastronomy
Aiming to offer guests an experience that combines leisure, relaxation and gastronomy, the two properties will feature a line-up of culinary offerings curated by Ennismore in-house F&B concept studio Carte Blanched. Gastronomic destinations include: Cuyo, humble, ocean-to-table food with bold Mexican flavours delivered with the best Balearic produce; Bungalow, a relaxed pool bar with a boho chic ambiance; Hyde Beach Ibiza, the club that Ibiza has been waiting for; Sun & Moon, where the day or night begins; The Perq, a go-to coffee bar for responsibly sourced, direct-trade coffee, teas, fresh fruit smoothies, and juices; and finally, Niko, a modern Japanese restaurant defined by premium ingredients, exceptional presentation and a sophisticated ambience, set to open in 2024.
