This month, 25hours Hotels celebrates its 20th anniversary.
20 years of creative concepts, genuine hospitality, memorable events, one-of-a-kind stories, professional service, and unconventional venues. Since its first opening in Hamburg in 2003, 15 hotels have gradually been opened throughout Europe and in Dubai. And with each new opening always the brand has always stayed true to its original vision, “You know one, you know none”.
The initial impetus for this project came from the visionary, Kai Hollmann. Then running his first hotel on a former factory site in Hamburg Bahrenfeld, an empty property nearby gave him the idea of creating another hotel as a dynamic addition to the iconic loft hotel. More youthful than traditional hotels, the first 25hours opened in November 2003 and was a place for design aficionados who value fair prices. It offered guests a relaxed space to network and connect – some Hamburg residents still describe the party scene of those early years as legendary. But success often involves a great many people, A few more teammates were required to finally turn this one-hit-wonder into a global hospitality brand.
Growing the brand
On the initiative of Christoph Hoffmann, the successful concept was extended in 2005, when the 25hours Hotel Company was established. Together with Stephan Gerhard, Ardi Goldman and Kai Hollmann, the group aimed to create a collection of individual boutique hotels in collaboration with alternating design teams. Under the motto, ‘Every cool city needs a 25hours hotel’, the four partners set themselves the goal of conquering Europe’s major cities, breathing new life into existing buildings along the way.
