In honor of International Volunteer Day, we celebrate the many ways of our Ennismore support their communities.
Rooted in community and a sense of place, brands in the Ennismore collective think of themselves as neighbours. They welcome people not only from around the world, but around the corner too, and understand that the small things that brighten someone’s day can make a huge difference. Extending their hospitality beyond our doors, many give back to and support causes close to their hearts by volunteering in their local communities.
It goes without saying, if everyone volunteered, the world would be a better place. So it comes as no surprise that the theme of this year’s IVD centres on the power of collective action. Making a positive impact – one of our core values – is our collective programme of charitable projects and activities that aims to enrich the lives of those in our local communities. Here we round up just a few ways our teams have volunteered to support their communities:
During the recent Thanksgiving season, Mondrian LA joined forces with the Hollywood Food Coalition to package and hand-deliver hot meals to those in need within the community. With deep roots in the community, the Hollywood Food Coalition believe that sharing food, knowledge, and resources can create innovation collaborations that serve the needs of those in need. Their community dinner being their signature and longest-running program, they serve a hot, nutritious meal to anyone in need nightly, making delicious meals from rescued food through their Community Exchange program. Hollywood Food Coalition’s Community Exchange provides nonprofits with the food they need, when they want it, so they can focus on their missions, and the Mondrian LA and have contributed to the programme through donations.
Although its doors are yet to open, The Hoxton, Edinburgh are already taking the first steps to making a positive impact on their community. Partnering with Empty Kitchens Full Hearts, they rolled up their sleeves dedicating our day to providing ‘day packs’ for their service users. Preping, packing and delivering food to those who need it most, their energy, passion and commitment made a small contribution with a much larger impact. Empty Kitchens Full Hearts are on a mission to turn surplus food into nourishing meals for those in need in the local community, free of charge and without judgment. They believe food is a basic human right and there should be no barriers to accessing it. Since launching in April 2020, they’ve provided a staggering 1.9 million meals to those facing food insecurity.
In Belgrade, the Mama Shelter team paid visit local humanitarian organization Children’s Heart. Children’s Heart’s coffee shop, The Sounds of Hearts, employ those with special needs and disabilities, and to aid in their inclusion in society but providing them with the tools they need to work. The Mama team donated their time and taught these young people how to prepare cocktails, as well as sweet and savory canapes, which were later served to guest with a smile.
Taking to the streets of Jakarta, the team at 25hours The Oddbirds spruced up their neighbourhood with a Clean Up Walk. In addition to a positive habit, the walk created a fun, new activity for team members and made a positive impact on they neighbourhood by collecting 46.8 kg of waste.
We want to shout out to everyone who lent their time and energy to shaping a better future for the people in our communites. We are so proud of what you have achieved together.
