This week, as the world celebrates International Volunteer Day, we’re proud to share some of the work our Ennismore heroes are doing to improve their communities.
At Ennismore, our home extends beyond our doors. We’re just a small part of our neighbourhoods and communities. And as good neighbours, we believe in giving back to and supporting our community, lending a helping hand where needed so we can grow and thrive together.
Each year, International Volunteer Day reminds us that the power to make a difference lies within each of us. Whether it’s sharing a meal with someone or tidying up our streets, small acts of kindness can brighten someone’s day. Making a positive impact – one of our core values – is our collective programme of charitable projects and activities that aims to enrich the lives of those in our local communities. Here we round up just a few ways our teams have volunteered to support their communities:
Taking to the streets in our communities across the globe, our teams are sprucing up their neighbourhoods with clean-up walks. We have an urgent responsibility to care for our Earth as challenges such as pollution, climate change, and habitat loss threaten our planet, and we are responsible for preserving our habitats for future generations. Partnering with the organisation Splitdyboat, the Mondrian Hong Kong team rolled up their sleeves and gathered plastic and styrofoam, working together to help protect the unique coastline of Hong Kong’s UNESCO Global Geopark, Park Sai Kung.
In Bangkok, representatives from SO/ Bangkok joined a Lat Phrao canal clean-up with the TerraCycle Thai Foundation, collecting over 3,151 kg of waste. Over in Scotland, The Hoxton, Edinburgh sprang into action to preserve and enhance the Water of Leith Walkway, just a stone’s throw from the hotel, by litter picking, path maintenance, cleaning up vandalism, and cutting back overgrown greenery. Enhancing our neighbourhoods with clean-ups also serves the vital purpose of making habitats safer for walkers and cyclists, as well as protecting and preserving the diverse wildlife that calls it home.
Closer to home, teams donated their time to collect donations, prep meals, and distribute supply packs to those who need it. The back-to-school season is an exciting time for a child. But it can also be a stressful time if you don’t have the right supplies. Helping to help kids thrive at school, the 21c Museum Hotel St Louis team backpacks, notebooks, pens, and sanitation items to Barack Obama Elementary in Pine Lawn, Missouri. At SO/ Uptown Dubai, Iftar hampers were distributed to Dubai RTA taxi drivers to keep them nourished during the Month of Ramadan in appreciation for all they do to keep the city moving during this special season.
Also in the Month of Ramadan, Rixos Radamis Hotel invited those in need into their home, preparing and presenting an Iftar meal to 500 guests from their community in partnership with the South Sinai Government. The initiative provided a nourishing and memorable dining experience for those in need, fostering a sense of community and togetherness during this special time of the year. In Los Angeles, Mondrian LA joined forces with the Hollywood Food Coalition to prepare a community dinner. The Coalition’s Community Dinners are their signature and longest-running program, serving up hot, nutritious meals to anyone in need nightly, making delicious meals from rescued food through their Community Exchange program.
To all our team members who gave their time and energy to shaping a better future for our communities – Thank you! We are so proud of what you have achieved together.
